It’s just insane. I just find it crazy that people have changed to this.
Buying things they don’t need with money they don’t have just to show off on social media sites that you have the latest bag, phone, jacket, suit or you ate at this fine restaurant, this expensive joint, drank at this new pub, gone to a concert looking stupid with your hands up and stiff just so you can record the performance. Stupid.
Where’s the fun in that? Where’s enjoying the moment? I mean real fun and not just preteding to party when you can still shoot photos faking it.
I just find it crazy stupid that people buy shit to flaunt to people they don’t know, to impress them with money you don’t even have so now you are stuck in debt. Paying off your credit card monthly trying to find that perfect groupon where you can find the cheapest travel fare and taking photos with your phone as if you are enjoying everything.
We have come to the age where everyone (yes, including you.) is an attention whore. Trying to brag about things, gadgets and places you visited and people you think you know you are friends with but doesn’t even know you. Where teens post photos of themselves topless or wearing undies just to gain a hundred likes and be ‘popular’. Do we need that?
No you are not an ad model, no, you are not hipster and no, you don’t start the trend. You follow just like the rest of us, you are hypnotized by brands, artists and celebrities but what do you gain? What do you get in all of these shit? You just spend more. You are trying very hard to have the lifestyle you are not to have.
So think again, are you one of them? Are you another socialite-wannabe that waits for your savings account to be filled by your employer for working your ass off for 12 days then spends it in 2 days paying off that credit card, or that planned getaway, that stylish bag, shirt, phone you have that is out of your league. It’s just not practical.
After everything has been said and done, ask yourself… Am I happy?
